In Monica’s works, picturesque landscapes, whimsical cityscapes, beautiful birds, flowers, and animals are all brought to life with contrasting and harmonious colors and bold compositions. These influences and her love of nature are clear in the art she creates. Monica’s vibrant color palette and the layering of those colors create a distinctive personal style, emanate joy and peace, and express a happy spirit.
“My subject matter is derived from what I see and feel. Like life however, it is layered, at times completely unorganized, and changes during the process many times. For me personally the painting process has been healing and joyful. Through my artwork, I try to bring the outside in, and while I make no attempt to portray my subjects in an exact likeness, I do try to aesthetically honor the nature that has inspired me in the first place.”

Benefitting The Samaritan Inn of Collin County
During the five weeks of my solo exhibition at the ArtCentre of Plano, we will be collecting gift cards for The Samaritan Inn of Collin County.
This organization serves over 100,000 meals a year, houses close to 500 people, a quarter of those being children, and is the largest comprehensive homeless shelter in the county. It’s easy to think that a prosperous area wouldn’t need help, but times can change for families at the drop of a hat. They partner with Walmart and Target to give the residents dignity getting items they need, so grab some gift cards and put them in the box at the desk on your way in to the ArtCentre of Plano.
On October 17th from 5-7pm we will present those cards to The Samaritan Inn and hear about what they are doing for this community…with wine and cheese of course!
