Robert Lawrence Designs (RLD) is pleased to announce our spring group show focused on color and form with work by several regional artists included. CHROMA features the work of Neena Buxani, Margaret McNiel, Dirk Guidry, Polina Novozhenets, and Cat Huss – artists based from Dallas, Austin, Corpus Christi, and Lafayette, LA. An opening reception will be held on Thursday March 19, 2020 from 5 – 8 PM with several of the artists in attendance.

“Color! What a deep and mysterious language, the language of dreams.” – Paul Gauguin

Through color and form – these five artists truly explore the language of techicolored dreams dripping in chroma. Neena Buxani, an Austin based artist, creates unique “Jewel”-like paintings from poured alcohol ink and gold pigment, relying on chance and the intensity of color to make intricate and visually intense pieces. Margaret McNiel’s newest body of work transports viewers to a true dreamland focused on the “pure pleasure of seeing” with winged florals floating above fields of color and patterns.

Dirk Guidry’s dynamic brushstrokes float on a pure saturated ground – contrasting movement and stillness. Polina Novozhenets paints twisted knots of bright color contrasted with a complimentary color background – allowing the viewer to follow her twisting and meticulously rendered path. Huss utilizes color in a layered approach, utilizing a variety of media to create her intuitive pieces.

A public reception and informal artist talk will be hosted at the Robert Lawrence Designs Showroom on Dragon Street on Thursday, March 19th from 5 – 8 PM with the artist talks beginning at 6:30 PM. Drinks and light bites will be provided.

Long a fixture in the Dallas Design District, in 2018 Robert Lawrence Designs began promoting contemporary Texan Artists by hosting artist talks, art openings, and offering their artwork to the area’s top interior designers as well as the public. Entering the non-traditional gallery space, you are greeted with luxurious home décor, a forest of realistic faux plants, and a curated, rotating selection of botanical and abstract work by Texan Artists. RLD hosts four art openings a year, as well as participating in the Dragon Street Galleries Monthly Third Thursday’s Art Walk.
