Join the Dragon Street Galleries for Third Thursdays, the only monthly Art Walk in the Dallas Design District! A monthly casual art walk down the length of historic Dragon Street with different businesses and galleries participating each month. This month, join Robert Lawrence Designs, Ferrari Gallery, Joel Cooner Gallery, Christopher Martin Gallery, Gary Riggs Home, Beaudry Gallery, ALG Collective, Laura Rathe Fine Art, Latino Arts Project, Stacie Hernandez Fine Art, Samuel Lynne Galleries, and CINQ Gallery for great art and a vibrant community from 5-8 PM in the Dallas Design District.
The event is free and open to the public.
Robert Lawrence Designs – 1607 Dragon St.
Long a fixture in the Dallas Design District, in 2018 Robert Lawrence Designs began promoting contemporary Texan and regional artists by hosting artist talks, art openings, and offering their artwork to the area’s top interior designers as well as the public. Entering the non-traditional gallery space, you are greeted with luxurious home décor, a forest of realistic faux plants, and a curated, rotating selection of botanical and abstract work by regional artists. RLD hosts four art openings a year, as well as participating in the Dragon Street Galleries monthly Third Thursday’s Art Walks.
Ferrari Gallery – 1605 Dragon St.
Ferrari Gallery, located in the heart of the Dallas Design District, represents abstract metal sculptures by James Ferrari, “Maxterpieces” by painter, Max Jones and abstract & representational contemporary paintings by Debra Ferrari. The gallery is open to the public and provides art curation. In addition to the gallery, visitors have the opportunity to meet the artists first hand (James & Debra Ferrari) and see works in process in their studios located at 1605 Dragon Street.
Joel Cooner Gallery – 1601 Dragon St.
The Joel Cooner Gallery specializes in important Tribal, Asian, Oceanic, Pre-Columbian and Ancient artworks. We cater to the discerning collector and search the world for pieces with cultural significance and a distinctive presence.
Christopher Martin Gallery – 1531-33 Dragon St.
Founded almost 25 years ago in Dallas, Christopher Martin Gallery has created the perfect atmosphere to present the reverse glass paintings and the limited edition works of Aspen based, American Artist, Christopher H. Martin. In a recently expanded and renovated space, the gallery is located in the Design District,1531-33 Dragon Street. The new development has introduced a rotating program for talented and diverse contemporary painters, photographers, and mixed media artists, bringing the right mix of artistic energy to the city of Dallas. Throughout the year, the venue will host exhibitions where the art world and the public can find unique works, adaptive to any space. Visitors can still experience Chris’ work, while being introduced to a select group of artists we have thoughtfully curated.
Gary Riggs Home – 1500 Dragon Street
Gary Riggs is an open-to-the-public showroom on Dragon Street offering fine art as part of its furniture and design business. Representing local artists as well as artists from around the globe, the diverse collection provides designers, clients, patrons and collectors a fine art selection to suit a wide range of appreciations. From estate collections and statuary to photography and oil paintings, Gary Riggs welcomes guests to an immersive design experience. Browse paintings, furnishings, and accessories to create “artful” interiors. Featured artists will be making appearances in the gallery during Art Walks throughout the year.
BEAUDRY Gallery – 1425 Dragon St
Mary Beaudry started in the art world as a picture framer in 1980, ultimately coming to the Design District in 1991 to fulfill a dream. Opening her custom frame shop, then adding her gallery within a few years, Mary had planted the roots of her success. Over the years, through every move, came larger spaces and more opportunities. From McKinney Ave. to Greenville Ave. and finally her current location on Dragon Street, Mary Beaudry has made her mark on the Dallas Design District. Her sterling reputation and eye for design have made BEAUDRY Gallery & Framing synonymous with integrity and excellence. That is why BEAUDRY is truly “The place for art”.
ALG Collective – 1302 Dragon Street
Composed of four artists, Christi Meril, Annie Griffeth, Melissa Ellis, and Anna Curnes, the Anna Lou Glass Collective’s beautiful space on Dragon holds their artist studios and showroom – as well as boasting a rooftop patio. Christi Meril is a Dallas-based contemporary artist who creates abstract mixed media works on canvas, wood, and paper. Hailing from the North Shore of Oahu, Annie Griffeth is a multi-faceted artist who infuses magical realism with Hawaiian-inspired pop art. Native Texan, Melissa Ellis, specializes in bold, heavily-textured abstract oil paintings. Dallas-based glass artist Anna Curnes plays with fire and sharp objects as she fuses, blows, and sculpts glass – creating beauty out of brokenness. They are called together to create together. The ALG is open to the public Thursdays 12-6pm and by appointment.
Laura Rathe Fine Art – 1130 Dragon Street, Suite 130
Laura Rathe Fine Art represents a diverse group of painters, sculptors, photographers and mixed media artists. LRFA has established itself as a leading contemporary art venue, offering an impressive range of exhibitions and programming to its patrons. The roster includes artists such as Hunt Slonem, Meredith Pardue, Zhuang Hong Yi, Stallman, as well as many others. Open Monday 10am-4pm, Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 11am-5pm.
Latino Arts Project – 1130 Dragon Street, Suite 100
Latino Arts Project is a non-profit organization founded by Jorge Baldor with Executive Director, Carlos Gonzalez-Jaime, that promotes a greater understanding of Latino art, history, and culture, through exhibitions and community programs. We partner with museums and other public and private institutions to provide the best Latin American art experiences. With rotating exhibitions, there will be something new to see every time. We offer bilingual group tours for a fun day with friends or family, bilingual school tours for educational programs, and our gallery space is available to make your next event stand out. Latino Arts Project works to serve the community by bringing the beauty and history of these unique exhibitions for you to enjoy.
Stacie Hernandez Fine Art – 1110 Dragon Street, Suite 120
Stacie Hernandez started in the art world in the late 1980’s in New York City working for a conservation and restoration firm, ultimately opening up art schools and galleries in the Northeast and Florida before arriving in Dallas. Stacie Hernandez Fine Art, LLC is a contemporary Fine Art Gallery and represents abstract and representational paintings, by Stacie Hernandez ,and large scale multi-media abstract paintings by Deborah Hartigan Viestenz. The Gallery is located in the Design District and is open to the public, with rotating exhibitions throughout the year.
Samuel Lynne Galleries – 1105 Dragon St.
Samuel Lynne Galleries is an art destination in Dallas. It is the realization of the dream of artist JD Miller and entrepreneur Philip Romano, which came to fruition in 2008. The mission of this state-of-the-art, award-winning gallery is to represent a very select group of artists, each with a unique vision and message within the contemporary art world. The gallery presents annual exhibition programming, as well as conversations with collectors and professionals within the art world that develops and creates a new interaction within the community.
CINQ Gallery – 905 Dragon St.
CINQ Gallery promotes emerging and mid-career artists who share a unique vision and passion for contemporary art. The gallery provides a platform to showcase and develop the individual talents of each artist. CINQ’s style and sensibility offers a unique blend of artistic disciplines, creating an enjoyable experience for all.
