This introductory one-day workshop in encaustic painting will teach participants to paint in the ancient, non-toxic medium of beeswax-based paint. We will cover basic core information, including the history of encaustic, health and safety, and the fundamentals techniques of painting and fusing. The workshop will cover the following painting techniques: how to create depth and transparency, texture or ultra-smooth surfaces, transfer of drawings, stencils, and collage.
Workshop Provides :
Paint, medium, wax, brushes
The use of all equipment including: Tools, hot palettes, heat guns
Printed technical data sheets
Some Paper for monotypes
Hot Box
Participants provide:
Paper Towels (one roll)
Apron
Personal Items for inclusion
Ampersand boards or a hard surface (plywood) Sizes 12”x12” or smaller
Extra plywood 12” x 12” and paper can be purchased at the workshop

Junanne Peck is an interdisciplinary artist, with printmaking as
her primary art form. Peck is a Demo Artist for Akua Ink. She is a
seasoned educator and Teaching Artist in the DFW area. Junanne is a TXO
Artist (Texas Original Artist) selected by the Texas Commission on the
Arts. Peck is a member of Women Printmakers of Austin and North Texas
Printmakers Guild. Her works are featured in solo and invitational
