Regular meetings of the Farmers Branch-Carrollton Art Association (FBCAA) are held on the 3rd Tuesday morning of the month August through May (except Dec.) Guests are welcome – demos are free; mini-workshops are $10. Location: Craft Room of Farmers Branch Senior Center, Valwood & Dennis Lane, Farmers Branch.

Demo/Workshop with Teta Smith – Acrylic Pouring
Teta Smith, paints luminescent contemporary paintings in watercolor, acrylic, collage, and oil with cold wax. She is known for a wide variety of subjects, from realistic portraits to non-representational acrylics.
Often invited to art organizations to demonstrate her unique approach to painting, she prizes audience participation during her demos. She also teaches group, private classes weekly and workshops, critiques and jury art exhibits. Teta loves to teach as much as she loves to paint. She has owned Teta Smith Studio where she has taught for the last 16 years. She says, “There’s nothing more fun than watching student’s skill and love for painting develop.”
Teta’s paintings radiate emotion-provoking color, and value. Three of her paintings were published in the book Confident Color by Nita Leland.
Over the years Teta’s work has also been has juried into and won awards in numerous exhibitions. She is past President of the 400 + member Southwestern Watercolor Society, an Associate member of National Watercolor Society, a Member of Richardson Civic Art Society, and Collage Visual Art.
Supply List for Mini – Workshop
Dollar stores carry many of the things on this list:
Paint: Fluid Craft Acrylic paint like Craft Smart (usually $.70), Folk Art, Deco Art. Masters Touch, Artist’s Loft etc. and tube paint work just fine but Fluid Acrylics are easier for miximg. Bring 3 colors of at least 2oz bottles that go well together.
Think if you’ll like the colors if they run together. You may bring as much paint as you like of course. Also bring black and white if you have it. If not, let me know. Containers with lids any type If you want to save left over paint.
Canvases smaller than 16×20. Several of 8×10 or smaller for practice if you haven’t done pouring before. If you paint quickly, bring at least 4-5 small canvases.
Dixie cups or small plastic cups of any kind
Disposable cookie sheets or disposable aluminum pan large enough for all of your canvases will fit in (Dollar stores, big box store or grocery stores). We’ll use these to take wet paintings home.
Push pins 2-4 for each canvas you bring
Plastic Gloves several pairs Wet wipes and Paper Towels
Waxed paper or Freezer Paper or Aluminum Foil enough to fit under each of your canvases with a 4” margin on all sides
