During this workshop we will create (carve) a woodcut block using relief printmaking tools (u-gauges and v-gauges). We will add color to our prints by using Chine-Colle, a technique used in conjunction with a printmaking process that results in a two-layered paper support, allowing us to experiment with multiple colors and textures. We will print a small edition on paper (Rives BFK).
Students are encouraged to bring a sketch, however woodblocks with transferred designs will be available for students to carve.
Although this is an intro/beginning class all skill levels are welcome! There will be a 30-minute lunch break- students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch.
Ink and tools will be provided by Familia Printshop
