Lake Granbury Art Association Presents Sheri Jones’s Workshop Paint with Color Acrylic Still Life Class at the Shanley House Studio 224 N. Travis St. Granbury, Texas Friday*, March 17, 2023- 9:30 am – 4:30 pm $60.00 for LGAA Members and $75.00 for Non-members *Please note that this workshop is on FRIDAY, not Saturday as previously advertised. Sheri works in an impressionistic style using acrylic and oil paints on canvas or board. She uses a palette knife to build up color and texture. Many of her paintings are inspired by her garden. She has a love of gardening and capturing her harvest on canvas. She feels original artwork brings beauty and warmth to an environment. When she creates a painting, she’s telling a story. Her hope is that you can connect on an emotional response and develop your own story. If you want to learn how to capture your subjects in an expressive and colorful way, this workshop is for you. Sheri will start the workshop with a demo of a still life set up using acrylic paints, starting with a quick thumbnail sketch to establish center of interest and placement of objects. She will guide each student in developing their own unique interpretation of the subject. We will focus on how to simplify the painting process by building forms with value while observing how to use color to affect intensity and contrast. Emphasis will be on learning to organize light and dark patterns and to see the subject less literally and more as an exciting arrangement of shapes and colors. Express yourself in a bold and colorful way. She will share her insight into how she develops paintings with eye-popping color. You can paint from one of her still-life set-ups, photos she’ll provide or one of your own photos. She wants you to choose what excites you. She will provide plenty of individual attention. Come sling some paint with her! This class is designed for beginner to advanced.
