You are invited to come along for an Art Adventure Abroad to Italy in May 2023 for 10 days in the Umbrian Region north of Rome. Each year a small group joins Darla Bostick for her Art Adventure Abroad to a new destination. In May 2023 we are going to the Umbrian Region of northern Italy and will stay at La Romita!
Simply put, Darla’s Art Adventures are just that – a group of artists (and interested non-artists) who wish to experience the culture, sites and foods of another country. Anyone who loves to travel and record their memories is encouraged to join — no art experience required! Darla will show you how to gather photographs, sketches, paint and use other fun materials as you make an art journal of the trip. It’s great fun, easy for non-arties to do and is a unique record of your adventure!
Our art journals will incorporate special ideas for each page. On site, you might do some quick sketches or painting but primarily you’ll use your time to see the area, using your camera to gather images. Each day there is a fun challenge for photography as well as the journal itself. There are also lessons dedicated to various techniques. After returning “home” each day, there’ll be time for instruction and creating!
Both new and seasoned artists are welcome to come and learn to journal creatively! Non-artists/spouses are also welcome to come along so bring a friend, or just plan to make new ones!
Or, if you prefer to explore your artistic side closer to home, Darla’s 18th Ghost Ranch UN-Traditional Watercolor Workshop/Retreat features watercolor with a twist! Monday, 30 Oct-Sunday, 5 November we live at the Ranch made famous by Georgia O’Keeffe. The workshop offers two optional field trips: Georgia O’Keeffe’s home and studio in Abiquiu, NM as well as the Landscape Tour on the Ranch property to see where she lived and what she painted.
