The Rockwall Art League is honored to host artist Meranda Dawkins, as their feature artist for October.
Accidentally Art – Come to my art demo at RAL to learn why my art is an accident…
I received my bachelors in art education from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Masters of Art
Education from Boston University. I have been teaching art in public school for 22 years – this is my
first year at Cain Middle School in Rockwall ISD where I teach Craft and Sculpture.
In 2019, I discovered a painting competition called Art Battle that reinvigorated and formed my art
practice. My demo will include a discussion about the resulting development of my practice, a
speed painting demo, and samples of my current work.
I am currently participating in local markets where I live paint and sell paintings, prints, and
macramé. Additionally, I am preparing for an upcoming show at the Deep Ellum Art Co. and sitting
on a planning committee for a new art fair in Deep Ellum.
I am inspired by the closeness I feel with nature – I seek adventure and inspiration in Colorado every
chance I get. My current series is inspired by both the Lupine of Colorado and the Texas Bluebonnet
– an exploration of not only color but also of depth and layers.
The meeting will take place on October 26 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Harry Meyers Community Center, 815 E. Washington St., Rockwall, TX 75087. The public is welcome.
