Opening Reception for Terrene, featuring Meredith Pardue

Laura Rathe Fine Art, Dallas, presents Terrene, a solo exhibition featuring new works by Austin-based artist, Meredith Pardue. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Saturday, August 27th from 4-7pm with an artist talk at 6pm. The artist will be in attendance.

With nature at the root of Pardue’s oeuvre, Terrene showcases a curated selection of paintings that embody our intrinsic relationship with the earth. Through her stylized language of abstraction, she captures an ethereal understanding of the four classical elements – earth, water, fire, and air – and extends her artistic exploration to the interaction each has with one another.

Describing each painting as “an unplanned dialogue between myself and a blank canvas,” Pardue translates her deep reverence for the natural world through explosive yet rounded motifs, rendering our connection with the planet as both powerful and gentle. Her visual conversations manifest in her signature plant-like organic forms, employing a broad range of color that is inspired by the earthly phenomena such as rainbows, cenotes, bioluminescent shores, minerals, and precious stones. In this exhibition, viewers will see a similar theme in her noted Les Papillons and Metamorphosis series, bursting with vibrant butterflies delicately dancing across each canvas.

Following Pardue’s momentous 50th solo exhibition at LRFA’s Houston gallery this past spring, a tribute to celestial bodies, this Dallas exhibition turns to the terrestrial as a reflection upon her appreciation for simplicity and beauty within the extraordinary realm of our terrene.

Terrene will be on display through October 1st, 2022.
