Join the Visual Arts Society of Texas (VAST) on April 6. 2022 from 6:45 – 8:30 pm for a presentation on Artist Natalia Concharova by Gail Cope at the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center (400 E Hickory St, Denton, Texas).
Gail and a group of other artists were wandering around the sites of Florence when they noticed signs advertising a major retrospective exhibition of Natalia Goncharova at the Palazzo Strozzi. “We had never heard of this artist, and after spending several hours studying her works on display, we were determined to share her exhibition with the VAST group.” Gail will present a images and fun facts on Goncharova and her exhibition.
Natalia Goncharova was a leading female artist of the 20th century and considered the leader of the Avant Garde in St. Petersburg. The exhibition explores her unconventional life and career, presenting her rich and multifaceted artistic output with masterpieces from major international collections.
Taking visitors on a journey from the Russian countryside to Moscow and Paris, two of the most important cities to Natalia, the exhibition features 130 artworks and gives an account of the unorthodox life of a woman who lived for her art and successfully forged her own unique fusion of tradition and innovation, of East and West, making her own work a unique example of experimentation with artistic genres and styles ranging from New-Primitivism to Rayonisme, painting and graphic art to her work for the theater. Take a step into the past to learn about Natalia’s life and works.
