The Friends of the Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park announce the Cabinet Oak Project, a juried art show culminating in a live auction and event in the fall of 2022. Our Juror is Katie Robinson Edwards, Ph.D., Executive Director and Curator of the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden + Museum in Austin.

The magnificent Cabinet Oak, on the grounds of the LBJ National Historical Park, has witnessed the breadth of American history. From Native American tribes and the settlement of the area by German immigrants to the site of important discussions by President Johnson’s cabinet officers and foreign leaders. These meetings, including discussions about LBJ’s landmark legislation, shaped the country in ways still relevant today.

Artists will be selected based on the uniqueness and quality of their previous work. Selected artists will be invited to work with a portion of this historic oak to contribute their own personal vision based on their interpretation of the call.
