I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH BUT…Natalie Lambert at the Irving Arts Center

February 6 – March 27, 2021 Irving Arts Center, Focus Gallery

(IRVING, Texas, January 18, 2021) – A new exhibition by Natalie Lambert opens on February 6 at Irving Arts Center. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH BUT… features drawings and paintings of ambiguous skin-like forms that portray human behavior guided by negative human instincts. Lambert utilizes the unique characteristics of drawing and painting media to illustrate the gradual formation of these beings and the actions they impose on each other.

Says Lambert of this series, “I am intrigued
where the known meets the unknown. These absurd composites of flesh are guided by my fascination with how a viewer perceives shapes, colors and surfaces that connect with their experience. The creation of the series is my process of coping with my current perception of humanity, my complicity in such a system and the difficulty in maintaining love despite dark forces of human behavior.”

Natalie Lambert grew up in a rural community in East Texas. The contrast of early experiences of traveling and living in multiple residences with the experience of growing up in a small town shapes her interest in people, their experiences and their perceptions. Lambert obtained a BFA from the University of North Texas and is currently a MFA candidate at the University of Dallas in Irving, Texas.

This exhibition is presented in partial fulfillment for the Master of Fine Arts in Art degree at the University of Dallas, 2021. An artist talk hosted by the University of Dallas will be forthcoming. Please contact the artist for details.
