New Orleans Native Artist Showcasing for Black History Month 2020 at Zari Gallery in London

The work of Ohso will be on exhibit in the Zari Art Gallery located in the heart of London’s historic West End in the UK. Following an outstanding response of hundreds of entries to their art call, the Zari team has carefully curated a select number of artists, each with their own story. The exhibition features British and International Black Artists in celebration of Black History Month 2020 – Honour, Remember, Inspire. The exhibit is free and runs from October 1 – 31, 2020. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 10:00a – 5:00p. Viewings are by appointment.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Ohso Fabone is an artist, graphic designer, entrepreneur, and educator. She primarily paints imaginative, 3-D composition portraits of Women of Color. The aesthetics of natural hair is emphasized in her work because in early African civilizations and some communities today, black hairstyles indicate status, tribe, make political statements, are used as a source of empowerment, and act as a conduit for spiritual interaction to God. Her current series, “Vertebrates on the Brink of Extinction” is an exploration of everyday racial injustice in Black Lives and African wildlife exploitation. Ohso is the recipient of a number of awards including The Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation – Individual Artist Grant, and TARGET Community Art Grant. She is an Alumni of N.O.C.C.A. and served over 15 years in the field of education in Louisiana and Texas at public schools, private schools, and non-profit organizations including Remington College, KID smART, My House Inc., Young Audiences, VietNO, YAYA Inc., Arts Council of New Orleans, Educational In-Roads, NEISD, Martinez Street Women’s Center, Urban Connection, Say ABC, and Q-kids. Ohso was also the founder of ArtistiKIDS! and is the co-owner of Peace Keeper Martial Arts in Texas with her husband.
