This virtual event accompanies the gallery’s current exhibition New Look: Art on Campus. The pair will share some of the amazing stories they have discovered as they work to digitize the collection.

New Look: Art on Campus

The exhibition New Look: Art on Campus features art from the University of Dallas Permanent Art Collection, as well as art on loan to the university by alumni and faculty. Since the permanent collection first began, in the early 1960s, there has been a strong desire to make art an important part of campus. Today, art from the Permanent Collection is display across campus, in classrooms, offices, and large communal spaces. Thus, this exhibition provides a rare opportunity to see much of the art together in the Beatrice M. Haggerty Gallery.
At UD, we believe that art is an essential part of a liberal arts education; and the generous gifts of friends, patrons, and former faculty reflect that belief. Our collection gives students and visitors the opportunity to encounter the diverse ways artists view and represent the world, to learn through imagination, and to be formed by aesthetic experiences.
Gallery Director Christina Hayes Haley is currently working with University Archivist Shelley Gayler-Smith and students to research the collection with particular attention to balancing accessibility and care of the artworks. We are grateful to Lyle Novinski, Professor Emeritus of Art and former chair of the art department, who oversaw the collection for many years, for generously providing us with a framework for understanding the collection and its history.
Visiting Safety Policies and Procedures
When visiting the campus you must first check-in at the Information Desk in J.M. Hagger, Sr. University Center/Visitor Center (building 4). We will ask you for your name and contact information, your temperature will be taken, and you will be asked to sign a certification that you are not sick with COVID-19. All guests will be informed of the campus health and hygiene policies for their visit and high-touch surfaces will be sanitized after each visit.
We are operating with limited opening hours to ensure the exhibitions are staffed and safe for visitors. Your safety, and that of our students, is our highest priority and our student workers are admitting no more than six people to the gallery at one time. See below for our visitor safety policies.

Haggerty Gallery is located in the Art History Building at the corner of Gorman Drive and Novinski Circle (2910 Haggar Drive/ Novinski Circle) on the University of Dallas campus at 1845 E. Northgate Drive in Irving. Parking can be found on Gorman Drive on your right if entering from John W. Carpenter FWY and Dominican Lane and Gorman Drive. There is also parking on Novinski Circle.
