Madhukar H. Trivedi, M.D., is Professor, Chief of the Division of Mood Disorders, and Director of the Comprehensive Center for Depression in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Trivedi, holder of the Betty Jo Hay Distinguished Chair in Mental Health, is an established efficacy and effectiveness researcher in the treatment of depression. Dr. Trivedi has received numerous awards including the Gerald L. Klerman Award from the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association’s Scientific Advisory Board and the Psychiatric Excellence Award from the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians.
Kevin Turner, AIA is a Principal Architect and Behavioral Healthcare Consultant with human eXperience, a design firm dedicated to the belief that every human has value. Over 25 years of practice with PFVS, RTKL, The Freelon Group and Perkins+Will, Kevin has become a recognized leader in the design and operations of behavioral healthcare facilities. He has designed 2 million s.f. from North Carolina to Hawaii and regularly speaks and writes on the subject.
Syeda Hasan (host) covers mental health for KERA News. A Houston native, her journalism career has taken her to public radio newsrooms around Texas. Before joining KERA, Syeda covered development and affordability at KUT News in Austin. She also worked as a general assignment reporter for Houston Public Media. Her work has been heard nationally on shows including Morning Edition, All Things Considered, PBS Newshour and Marketplace.
