Frisco´s The Gallery 8680 space reopens with a feast of color brought by the solo exhibition of artist Romulo Martinez “IN BETWEEN”.
The safety measures amid Covid-19 kept The Gallery 8680 space closed in a quarantine time that moved their activities online, now and following the new regulations the space is ready to revive the art in Frisco and what better way to do it than having a feast of color next Friday, June 05 at 7 pm, where Texas-based artist Romulo Martinez will fill the space with his IN BETWEEN Solo Exhibition inviting us to explore the duality of his artistic production at this time of his life. An exhibition that will feature more than 15 pieces of art of various formats and techniques to show artworks between abstraction and figuration, giving life, word and depth to the spectrum of color, which is born from his ongoing study of the decomposition of light.
Romulo Martinez, is originally from Venezuela and has more than 15 years of artistic experience and has been a resident of Frisco for the last 2 years, is a Bachelor in Plastic Arts and Master in Artistic Production, has 9 individual exhibitions and more than 70 collective participations in various countries.
Awarded with the exhibition opportunity as “Best of Show” in the Conduit exhibition organized by Envision arts in alliance with The Gallery 8680 and held in the Frisco Discovery Center in August 2019, IN BETWEEN becomes the artist’s first individual exhibition in the United States. Arriving to its 11th anniversary The Gallery 8680 keeps celebrating art and promoting artist in the city as the single gallery space in Frisco.
Important information: The Gallery 8680 committed with the safety of the community will arrange a road map to walk through the exhibit in a one-way design keeping the distance inside to enjoy the art. Outside the gallery a space will we set-up to enjoy complimentary hors d´oeuvres and wine.
The opening night will be a date to fully enjoy the studio and the continuous daily work that the artist has been preparing to expose the best of his talent seeking to immerse and engage each viewer to the chromaticism and the forms he uses, save the date and join the opening.
About the artist
Romulo Martinez is a visual artist residing in the city of Frisco, Texas and born in Maracaibo-Venezuela, with more than 15 years of artistic life, Bachelor of Plastic Arts from the University of Zulia in Venezuela and Master in Artistic Production from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. His artistic work, between the abstract and figurative, uses academic and industrial materials, emerges from his morphological research around the study of color by observing iridescent phenomena such as the light spectrum. He has several academic awards and artistic awards in his professional career. In his experience as an artist, he has 9 individual exhibitions held in leading private galleries and museum / cultural institutions in Venezuela and Colombia. He has participated in more than 70 collective exhibitions and art halls. His work has been exhibited in different Venezuelan cities, such as Caracas, Maracaibo, Valencia, Maracay, Barcelona and Trujillo, and internationally in Bogotá-Colombia, Valencia-Spain, Miami-USA, Singapore-Singapore City, Buenos Aires-Argentina and Lima-Peru, inside international art shows and fairs. He served as Professor of Plastic Arts of the Department of Culture of the University of Zulia (2012-2015), currently he keeps working as an independent artist developing his concepts and researching for new materials and ways of expression.
