Create beautiful marbled papers using this ancient technique!
The oldest and simplest form of marbling paper comes from Japan and is known as Suminagashi, which means ‘ ink floating or spilled ink’. Ink is applied to the surface of a pan of water. The floating colors are then carefully manipulated either by blowing on them directly or through a straw, fanning the colors, or carefully using a stick to stir the colors. A thin paper is laid on the top of the colors, then removed, and laid aside to dry.
You can use this process for creating scrapbooking papers, greeting cards, ATCs, collage, journaling, stationary, decoupage, endpapers, bookmarks, papercrafts, marbled mats, backgrounds for painting, stamping, calligraphy or poetry — or just mat & frame as a painting.
