Soon Warren reception Aug. 31 at Last Saturday Gallery Night in Granbury

Your Private Collection in Granbury, Texas invites you to celebrate award-winning watercolorist Soon Y. Warren for a night of amazing art at their Last Saturday Gallery Night on August 31st, 6-8pm.

Soon Y. Warren is a highly awarded artist and teacher. She began full-time painting in 1998 and has since achieved recognition as one of the top watercolorists internationally. Soon has been selected for membership in many of the top watercolor societies, including signature membership of top national organizations like the National Watercolor Society (NWS) and American Watercolor Society (AWS).

Soon focuses on the top national and international competitions, which include NSW, AWS, and artist magazine competitions. Being awarded Best of Show in these venues place an artist as one of the top artists in the US. Soon has been awarded many juried awards, including within International Artist Magazine; Southwest Artist Magazine- who named her within the “Top 21 Artists in US over 31” in November 2009; Watercolor Artist Magazine- Best of Show and cover- Jan, 2009; North Light Books- cover future every year since 2000; Watercolor Magic magazine 2004, 2005, & 2006 finalist -of 2300 entries; and Artist’s Magazine every year since 2005.

Soon and her paintings have been published in the renowned art publication, Splash, every year since “The Best of Watercolor, Splash 8” and through the current Splash 19. She was the cover artist in 2014. This publication named her one of US’s top 15 watercolorists in the last 20 years.

Soon takes top honors in many national art shows – one whose purchaser is the Koch brothers. With the NSW and SWA she has achieved highest recognition including NWS Purchase Award with Silver Star (top award); SWA Best of Show and People’s Choice Award; and NWS Juried Merchandise Award & Exhibition and national traveling show. In 2014, her recognition went international with Best of Show 2014 International SWA. Several works were part of a trilateral exhibition at the South Korean Embassy with works from artists selected by Watercolor USA. Featured artists were from Japan, South Korea, and the USA.

Soon’s works are part of several museum permanent collections, including as the R.W. Norton Gallery. The curator, David J. Wagner, Ph.D. invited a select group of living artists to each exhibit 4 to 6 pieces. Soon is the only one chosen to be part of their permanent collection. He compares the works in American Still Life to the Old Masters’ still life paintings from the 1600’s.

Soon has authored and published two books and several painting instructional videos. She is a sought-after instructor and gives workshops all over the world.
