Capture the essence of nature on paper, silk and other fabrics. In this fast and fun workshop, you will learn how to extract dyes and prints from the plants/leaves in your own Texas landscape. You will leave with several pieces of fabric and paper swatches to use for future reference. I will share information based on my experimentation with local plants and my study with Jane Dunnewold (www.janedunnewold.com). You will also learn how to prepare and mordant fabrics. You will leave with enough information to get you started in the fascinating craft of natural dyeing.
In eco printing or dyeing, plants are enclosed in textiles or paper, we will make bundles in stacked Layers and then steam them to extract the pigments and produce a print made with plant dyes.
