Art in the Park April 27 and Art Painting Party April 25
The Creative Arts Center has monthly painting parties that are fun for anyone who wishes to paint – whether they have experience or not. The Art on the Town experience incorporates a party atmosphere with an art project; the center provides the art supplies and instructor and participants bring the party with them (snacks, drinks, etc.).

On Thursday, April 25 from 6:30-8:30 PM, Art on the Town features a technique known as an Acrylic “Pull” using acrylic paint, a pouring technique and string. Though it’s not quite as easy as it looks, those who attend will go home with two paintings. The instructor is CAC Artist Regina Matejowsky whose main focus as a painter is Acrylic Pouring. Advance sign up is required by calling the arts center. For children who wish to take art lessons, a weekly class taught by Katherine Kluger is on Wednesdays from 4 to 5 PM and is for kids of all ages and abilities. The cost is $40 per month. Many different types of media are covered in the class.
Art in the Park is an outreach program of the Creative Arts Center where the last Saturday of the month (weather permitting), an instructor brings art supplies to Simpson Park and provides an opportunity for kids to do art projects free of charge. The next event is on April 27 from 10 to noon. Children of all ages are invited to participate.
On Thursday, May 16, a Watercolor Workshop taught by Kay Carrel will be offered from 10 AM to 3 PM. Participants will need to sign up in advance. Details about the workshop will soon be available on the website and on Facebook. For more information on this or any arts center program or activity, contact the center at 903-640-2196.
