Johnavich is best known for his vividly illuminating color palette associated with his Blacker The Berry Series on large scale canvases. Noir Nostalgia is a jolt into a new direction. It delves into the genre of noir style imagery with minimalist undertones. The images are contorted and ambiguous in nature which play heavily on the idea of contrast. The color palette consists of only carbon black, titanium white, and shades of gray. The images engage the viewer in an unorthodox method of presenting the human figure, which are void of identity and individualism. The mediums consist of pen, acrylic paint, and copic marker. This is the third solo show of Johnavich, following his debut show New Faces at Random Art Gallery and Blacker The Berry at the Africa American Museum of Dallas.
