Sparks Studio workshops: Monday Night Painting, Enameling & Leather Journals

Monday Night Painting, All Media with Barbara McFarland – Monday Nights  –  6:30pm to 8:30pm

Barbara teaches watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media at Sparks Studio Art. Her Monday night venue is an on-going painting class every week.  All painting and drawing mediums are welcome.  Work on your own individual projects in the material of your choice.  BEGINNERS are welcome.  Each student receives personal instruction.

Barbara McFarland  – Magnum Cum Laude UNT grad, B.F.A in painting and drawing from U.N.T. in Denton. She works in watercolor, oils, acrylics, pastels, and mixed media. Her work has received numerous awards in local, regional, and national shows. She has spent two summers painting on location at the La Romita School of Art in Italy.

Enameling on copper is a hot technique! You will learn the techniques of applying powdered glass onto copper and see the magic of enamel come alive.   This class will show you how to prepare the copper, apply enamels and torch fire your pieces to create your own wearable art. The class fee includes copper, enamel, chain, use of torch and all tools needed to complete your colorful creations.  Feel free to bring your own tools clearly marked as yours. arn how to prepare papers to create signatures.  Stitch each signature into the exposed binding and make a closure for your new journal.  We will cut or tear the paper in class. The finished class sketchbook or journal will be 8” by 8”  and will contain 72 pages.
 Supplies to bring:  Please bring your own paper for the pages …  
You will need 3 sheets of 140# paper – Fabriano or Fluid work best, CP or HP (please don’t bring Arches) – OR paper is available in the studio – Three 22 x 30″ sheets for $12.  
 Supplies:  If possible, bring  an awl, a bone folder, and pliers.
