Fort Worth, Texas (November 26, 2018) – Artist Julia Ross paints a path, bringing light and healing for social good through her Finding the Light exhibition presented by Giddens Gallery of Fine Art on December 13-15, 2018 in Grapevine, Texas.

After the loss of her 26-year-old son this past summer, he became Ross’ source of inspiration for Finding the Light using painting as her channel to heal. Tumbling down the dark hole of grief, each stroke of the paintbrush brought enlightenment, healing and understanding to Ross’s new incomprehensible reality.

“Through my work, you will see that unfolding of my heart’s longing to connect as each new piece has grown with light,” said Ross. “Darkness cannot exist in the presence of light, specifically divine light.”

Ross describes her son as force of nature and his power to help others will live on in the contributions of her work. The proceeds from Finding the Light will go to the National Coalition for the Homeless – reaching to serve the nearly 60,000 families currently experiencing homelessness in the US today.

Hailing from a family of artists, painters, poets and sculptors, Ross’s happiest memories involve creative works. As artwork brings on new life with each medium, Ross creates paintings with a time-honored technique of Encaustic – wax art, acrylic paintings, watercolor and ink mixed media on large canvas, canvas board and acrylic board. Paintings and sculptures include acrylic, metal and resin encased gallium.

Drops of encaustic wax and paint begin the art process which extends to the canvas and defines an artistic view of landscapes, water, sea life and the ever-changing climate. Layers of transparent color and metallic elements combine to relay a calm strength inherent in both the subject matter and artwork of this artist.

The Finding the Light exhibition, Dec. 13-22 and reception, Dec. 15 are both free to the public and a chance for art aficionados to add to their collections at home and give back philanthropically. To view Ross’ art, visit giddensgallery.com or Juliarossart.com.
