Please join us for the 37th Annual Juried Show for the Pastel Society of the Southwest. Juror and judge for the show, Diane Rappisi, will demonstrate from 2-4 pm on Sunday, Oct. 7 at the Tower Gallery in Grapevine Texas.
Awards will be presented after the demonstration. The show will run from October 3 – October 31 2018 at the Tower Gallery

About the juror:
Diane Rappisi is a contemporary realist painter whose work fuses the light and chroma of the Cape Cod colorists with the form and structure of the traditional Italian and French academies. She works in oil, pastel, charcoal, and graphite.
Diane trained in the full-time Professional Program at Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia, PA. There she deepened her understanding of color, form and anatomy, and discovered her innate love of figure painting.
Diane is an IAPS Master Circle member, and a signature member of the Pastel Society of America. She also is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the Salmagundi Club in New York, NY, and the Pastel Society of Colorado. Diane’s work has been exhibited at various locations such as the Butler Museum of American Art in Ohio, the National Arts Club in New York City, the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum in Wyoming, the Union League and the Comcast Center in Philadelphia, and Arti et Amicitiae, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has had two solo exhibitions and has won awards in numerous juried shows, including Best in Show at the 2015 PSSW Annual and Best in Show at the 2016 Mile High International in Denver, CO. Diane has received other notable awards including those from IAPS’ “Pastelworld” Biennial Juried Show, the Pastel Society of America’s Annual “Enduring Brilliance” exhibition in New York, NY, and the Academic Artists Association in Springfield, MA. Her work resides in private and public collections across the country, and selected pieces have been published for the National Park Service in Glen Echo, MD. Diane was featured in the December 2014 issue of Pastel Journal and this year will have her work included in “Pure Color 2,” which will be available later this summer.
From 2012 through 2016, Diane owned and operated the “The Atelier at Castle Rock” in Colorado, a teaching studio where she painted and offered classes and workshops. She now paints in a private studio and teaches workshops on location. This fall Diane will offer a series of workshops in Australia. When she is not painting, Diane dedicates much of her time to her position on the Board of Directors of IAPS.
